Massachusetts Flower Growers’ Association Scholarship — summary for applicants
The Massachusetts Flower Growers’ Association awards scholarships of up to $6,000 to students studying floriculture, horticulture, or closely related agricultural sciences. If you meet the eligibility requirements below, apply online.
Who is eligible
- Major (or intend to major) in floriculture, horticulture, or a related agricultural science.
- Massachusetts resident for at least one year before submitting the application.
Award amount and how it is paid
- The scholarship pays $1,500 per year, for up to four years (maximum total = $6,000).
- Awards are prorated to the number of years approved:
- 1 year (2 semesters) = $1,500
- 2 years = $3,000
- 3 years = $4,500
- 4 years = $6,000
- Payment schedule: the first $1,500 payment is made after you complete your first semester (typically in January) upon receipt of an official transcript. Subsequent annual payments are made each year upon receipt of the semester transcripts, until the approved term of the scholarship is complete or the maximum award has been reached.
What can cause the scholarship to be terminated
The scholarship may be ended and future payments withheld if any of the following occur:
- You fail to complete the required semesters for the award.
- You discontinue your course of study in floriculture, horticulture, or a related agricultural science (as determined by the Scholarship Committee).
- You do not maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
