The Ron Brown Scholarship is a prestigious program that pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Ronald H. Brown. This selective scholarship program is designed to foster higher education opportunities for African Americans who are not only intellectually gifted but also have a strong sense of community involvement.
Each year, the Ron Brown Scholar Program (RBSP) awards 20-25 scholarships, each worth $40,000 over four years ($10,000 annually), to the most promising and economically disadvantaged high school seniors. These students must demonstrate a strong interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship, and global citizenship. These four areas reflect the core mission of the late Ronald H. Brown, who dedicated his life to uplifting individuals of all races, cultures, and ethnicities, with a particular focus on disadvantaged youth.
The recipients of these renewable scholarships can use them to attend any accredited four-year college or university within the United States. The Ron Brown scholarships are not restricted to any specific field or career objective and can be used to pursue any academic discipline. Since the inception of the Program in 1996, 634 students have been honored as Ron Brown Scholars.
Eligibility for the Ron Brown Scholarship requires applicants to be Black/African American, US citizens or permanent residents, and current high school seniors at the time of their application.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE RON BROWN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
We strongly encourage all interested applicants to apply for the Ron Brown Scholar Program, provided they meet the following criteria:
- Identify as Black/African American.
- Exhibit academic excellence.
- Show exceptional leadership potential.
- Participate in community service activities.
- Demonstrate financial need.
