What the scholarship offers - Each year the program awards 20 full, renewable scholarships. Each scholarship can total $40,000 over four years ($10,000 per year) to help pay for an accredited four‑year college or university in the United States. - Scholars may study any major or pursue any career path — the award is not restricted to a particular field. - Since the program began in 1996, 683 students have been named Ron Brown Scholars. What the program looks for The Ron Brown Scholar Program is competitive. Successful applicants typically: - Are Black/African American. - Are U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status. - Are current high school seniors at the time they apply. - Demonstrate strong academic achievement. - Show exceptional leadership potential. - Participate in meaningful community service. - Demonstrate financial need.
