The Daniels Scholarship Program is designed to make higher education achievable for driven and aspiring students.
We are seeking students who possess enormous potential, impeccable character, grand aspirations, and principles that correspond with the program's founder, Bill Daniels. Daniels Scholars® represent the up-and-coming generation of leaders in America, who demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity and are dedicated to making a positive impact on their surroundings. They are independent, innovative thinkers who are patriotic, take pride in their local communities, and strive to make them better.

What criteria are used to select Daniels Scholarship Program recipients?
Bill Daniels, a trailblazer in the cable television industry, was known for his empathy towards the less fortunate and his unflinching dedication to ethical conduct and integrity. He was a fervent patriot, having served in two wars to protect our nation and the freedom we relish today. Bill Daniels also had a deep-rooted passion for the free market system, believing it offered the greatest chance to help individuals enhance their lives.
Daniels Scholars are chosen for embodying the qualities Bill Daniels established for the program, such as:
- Robust character
- Potential for leadership
- Dedication to community service
- Academic achievement or promise
- Broadly developed personality
- Emotional stability and maturity
Bill Daniels would also expect his scholars to adhere to the values he held in high regard. These values encompass ethics and integrity, honesty, respect for individuals, loyalty and dependability, entrepreneurial mindset, patriotism and commitment to community, pursuit of excellence, and good manners.

Eligibility
To qualify for the Daniels Scholarship Program, applicants must fulfill the following conditions at the time of application:
- Be a high school senior expecting to graduate
- Be a resident of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming
- Hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0 without weighting)
- Achieve a minimum SAT Math score of 490 and a minimum Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of 490, or a minimum ACT score of 18 in each category (excluding the writing score).
- Meet the financial eligibility requirements as outlined below.
Details on Financial Eligibility
To qualify for the Daniels Scholarship Program, candidates must show financial need by having an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $100,000 or less as reported on their 2024 federal tax return where they are claimed as dependents, along with a review of other assets. For each additional dependent claimed on the 2024 tax return, apart from the applicant, an additional income of $10,000 is permissible.
On the 2024 Form 1040, the AGI appears on Line 11, and dependents claimed can be located in the Dependents section, as shown on the example form below:
Throughout the application process, candidates will be required to provide documentation to verify eligibility, including their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) 2024 federal tax return, ACT/SAT scores, proof of U.S. citizenship and residency, evidence of college enrollment for additional claimed dependent(s), and their FAFSA Submission Summary. We advise all students to complete the FAFSA as soon as it opens for the 2025-2026 academic year.
