Thank you for your interest in Chickasaw Nation higher-education funding. Below is a clearer, teacher-friendly version of the information you provided. Read everything carefully, choose the programs you qualify for, and follow the steps so your application will be considered.
Who can apply
- You must be a Chickasaw citizen. Applications without a Chickasaw Nation citizenship card or citizenship confirmation will not be considered.
- All grants, programs, and scholarships listed are available only to Chickasaw citizens.
How to apply (step-by-step)
1. Read each program description and place a check beside every funding source for which you want to be considered. You may select more than one.
2. Complete the attached application form.
3. Gather required documents (see “What you must provide” below).
4. Submit your application and documents by one of these methods: online (upload documents), U.S. mail (postmarked by the deadline), email, or delivered in person. Fax is no longer accepted.
5. Full-time Chickasaw Nation employees should use Form 10629E to apply for grants and programs (Chickasaw Employment Access participants are excluded).
Deadlines (must be met)
- Fall semester applications: by end of business on September 15.
- Spring semester applications: by end of business on February 15.
- Summer semester applications: by end of business on July 1.
- If you are on a quarter system, your deadline is one month from the start date of that quarter.
What you must provide
- Incoming freshmen: final high school transcript.
- Continuing students: unofficial college transcript showing previous semester grades and hours.
- Current class schedule showing the credit hours/units you are enrolled in.
General eligibility rules applied to most programs
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours/units or more each semester (unless a program states otherwise).
- Maintain required GPA (see each program below).
Programs and requirements (select any you qualify for)
1) Higher Education Grant
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours/units each semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
2) Free Assistance Grant
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours/units each semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
3) General Scholarship Program
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours/units each semester
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Note: Full-time Chickasaw Nation employees are ineligible for this program
4) Textbook Grant — Reimbursement
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours/units each semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Award amounts:
- Part-time (undergraduate, master’s, doctorate): $250 per semester
- Full-time (undergraduate, master’s, doctorate): $500 per semester
- Receipts for reimbursement must be submitted by:
- Fall: October 15
- Spring: March 15
- Summer: July 1
5) Textbook Grant — Gift Card
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours/units each semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Award amounts:
- Part-time (undergraduate, master’s, doctorate): $250 per semester
- Full-time (undergraduate, master’s, doctorate): $500 per semester
- Current award receipts due by next semester’s deadline
- Important: Pre-paid VISA gift cards must be fully used within six months of the card’s load date (see student handbook for details)
6) Chikasha Holitoplichi — Graduation Stole Program
- Must earn an associate degree or higher from an accredited college
- One award per student per degree
