The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is an initiative aimed at elevating the standard of education in Indiana. It seeks to enhance the understanding of the positive impact that community foundations can have within their local areas. Furthermore, it encourages the scholars of the Lilly Endowment Community to interact with each other and with state leaders to enhance the quality of life in Indiana.

The Endowment holds the belief that education, at all levels, is crucial to the personal, civic, and economic prosperity of Indiana's residents and communities. The program's objective is to inspire many of Indiana's brightest students to enroll in one of the state's higher education institutions and, ultimately, to establish their careers in Indiana.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is managed by the Independent Colleges of Indiana. It involves significant participation from the community foundations that serve each of Indiana's 92 counties.

Key Components of the Program:

• Full-tuition, mandatory fees, and a book stipend for four years. (Please note, room, board, or travel expenses are not covered.)
• Recipients have the freedom to attend any public or private, Indiana four-year college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
• Applicants must possess a high school diploma from an Indiana high school accredited by the State Board of Education or by a national or regional accreditation agency recognized by the State Board of Education.
• Applicants must be residents of the state of Indiana.
• The selection criteria, procedures, and application due dates may vary by county.
• Recipients are required to pursue undergraduate study in a baccalaureate program on a full-time basis.
• Each year, 147 scholarships are awarded.
