Through the BK Scholars program, we have had the privilege of awarding nearly $64 million in scholarships to over 54,000 deserving students across North America. Our aim is to provide one scholarship for every BK restaurant, which equates to more than $7 million in scholarships annually.
Education is a fundamental pillar of success, and we are committed to fostering this in students across North America through our BK Scholars Program. This program is the cornerstone of our foundation, established in honor of the Burger King brand's co-founder, James W. McLamore. McLamore was a stalwart of community service throughout his life, with a deep commitment to philanthropy and education. Through this program, we award scholarships to deserving high school seniors, Burger King employees, and their families to help further their education. Thanks to McLamore's legacy and the support of our franchisees, the scholars program has awarded a total of $60 million in scholarships to more than 51,000 deserving students across North America since its inception in 2000.
The scholarships we offer range from $1,000 to $60,000 and are designed to help offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are chosen through an application process that takes into account their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need, and community service. In 2024 alone, the Foundation awarded over $4.5 million in scholarships to nearly 4,200 students.
The application period for the 2026-2027 cycle will commence on October 15th, 2025 and will remain open until we receive 30,000 applications or until December 15th, 2025, whichever comes first.
