McKinney Family Fund Scholarship

Purpose
The McKinney Family Fund exists to support students in reaching their academic potential by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors and graduate students who are pursuing post‑secondary degrees.
Who should consider applying
- High school senior or high school graduate
- Ohio resident for at least 2 years
- Minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale)
- Enrolled or enrolling at an accredited nonprofit college or university in pursuit of an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree
- Preference is given to African American and Hispanic applicants and to those who live in Greater Cleveland
How to apply
Submit the Cleveland Foundation Scholarships General Application (available on the Cleveland Foundation scholarships website).
How winners are chosen
A selection committee reviews the completed application and looks for evidence of genuine commitment to earning an academic credential. If candidates are otherwise equally qualified, financial need will be used as a tiebreaker.
Award details
- Annual award amounts vary depending on the fund’s performance and the number of recipients selected.
- College Now will formally notify selected recipients.
- Awards are paid directly to the institution and must be applied toward tuition, fees, books, supplies, and/or equipment required for coursework.
If you receive the scholarship
- Maintain full‑time enrollment (unless the award specifically permits part‑time enrollment).
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Renewal
Historically the scholarship has been renewable for up to four total years, provided the student continues to meet the requirements and funding is available.
