Project Yellow Light / Hunter Garner Scholarship is a student-focused competition with a simple purpose: change driving behavior by convincing your peers to stop driving distracted. As an applicant, your mission is clear — create a powerful message that motivates other young drivers to make safer choices.
What you can enter and what you can win
- Video competition (high school and college categories): $8,000 scholarship to the winner in each category.
- Videos due: April 1
- Billboard competition (high school and college categories): $2,000 scholarship to the winner in each category.
- Billboard designs due: March 1
- Radio competition (high school and college categories): $2,000 scholarship to the winner in each category.
- Recordings due: April 1
Beyond the scholarship
- The winning video may become an Ad Council PSA and run on roughly 1,800 TV stations nationwide.
- The winning billboard design may be produced and shown on Clear Channel Outdoor digital billboards across the U.S.
- The winning radio spot may be distributed on iHeartRadio’s national network and stations around the country.
What we’re looking for
Make a video, billboard design, or radio spot that persuades your peers not to drive distracted. Speak to them in a way adults can’t — with honesty, clarity, and creativity. Your message should motivate, persuade, and encourage safer behavior. The more people you reach, the more lives you can help protect.
