About Gustave (Gus) E. Archie
Gus Archie (1907–1978) was a pioneering engineer whose work established the quantitative links between porosity, electrical resistivity, and hydrocarbon saturation in rocks—relationships that are central to modern well-log interpretation. His 1942 paper, "The Electrical Resistivity Log as an Aid in Determining Some Reservoir Characteristics" (Transactions of AIME), is a foundational work. He coined the term “petrophysics,” and the industry still refers to his core relation as the “Archie Formula.”

Brief biography
- Education: BS degrees in mining and electrical engineering; MS in mining engineering, University of Wisconsin, 1933.

(1958). He became assistant to the vice president of E&P Research in 1966 and retired in 1967.
- Honors: SPE’s Lester C. Uren Award (1964) and AIME’s Anthony F. Lucas Gold Medal (1978).
- Legacy: Celebrated as a friend, teacher, and exceptional engineer who left a lasting impact on petroleum technology.

If you want, I can rewrite this as a short brochure paragraph, a checklist for students preparing an application, or a brief announcement formatted for a classroom bulletin board. Which would you prefer?
