Awards Available: 50

Our mission is to foster the ongoing development of black employees and to promote careers in the technology sector.

Eligibility Criteria

The BAM Scholarship was established with the aim of providing Black and African American students the opportunity to attend college and pursue a career in the technology field. The ultimate objective is to inspire and empower future generations to achieve more.

To be eligible for the BAM Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a US-based high school senior of African descent (for instance, African American, African, Ethiopian, etc.).
  • Intend to enroll in a four-year college or university in the US immediately after high school graduation.
  • Plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs (such as finance, business administration, or marketing).
  • Show a strong interest in technology.
  • Exhibit leadership skills at school or in the community.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Require financial aid to attend college.

Application Process

The upcoming scholarship cycle will commence on January 22, 2024, and we will be accepting applications until March 13, 2024. Please revisit this site in mid-January 2024 for more details on the application process. Applications will be submitted via the Scholarship America Hub.

As part of the application process, you will be required to submit the following:

One letter of recommendation:

At least one letter must be from a faculty or staff member at your school. Recommendation letters should be original and not duplicates of college recommendation letters. (Letters must be on official letterhead.)

Ensure that your recommender has uploaded the letter by the deadline. All materials must be received by the deadline.

Transcript:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, and credit hours for each course and term in which the course was taken.
  • Note: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

    One Essay
  • In no more than 500 words, describe how you plan to engage in the technology industry in your future career. (If you have done exemplary work using technology during high school, please describe that as well.)
