IEI Scholarship

If you plan to apply for the IEI Scholarship, here’s a clear, teacher-approved guide to what’s required and how to organize your application.
Eligibility (you must meet all of these)
- Be enrolled at an Illinois university.
- Be at least junior standing (typically the third year of undergraduate study).
- Be enrolled in an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
- Note: students in engineering technology programs are not eligible.
- Maintain at least a B average in the courses that count toward your engineering degree.
- Demonstrate financial need.
Required application materials (checklist)
- Completed scholarship application and needs analysis (use the attached forms).
- Official transcripts from every college or university you’ve attended (sent under separate cover).
- Two letters of reference:
- One should come from your department chair or a faculty member in your department.
- The other may be from a past employer or another character reference.
- A typewritten essay, 200 words or fewer, describing your career goals as a professional engineer.
