AGC South Dakota Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by Associated General Contractors of South Dakota

Overview
We at AGC of South Dakota believe a well-educated, well-trained workforce is the foundation of a strong construction industry. In 2025 we awarded more than $75,000 to students pursuing construction-related education, and we plan to continue supporting students in 2026. Successful applicants must be in good academic standing and plan to work in South Dakota after graduation.

Who may apply
- Graduating high school students or students currently enrolled in construction-related programs at a technical college, college, or university.
- If a question on the application does not apply to you, write N/A.

Scholarship pools (selected awards)
An AGC of SD Member sponsorship is required for application. If you need help finding a sponsor, visit www.sdagc.org → Membership or call 605-274-8689.

- Build Dakota Partner Scholarship: AGC of SD provides the remaining 50% of the scholarship for students who were selected for a Build Dakota Scholarship and are enrolled at a technical institute (must have AGC sponsorship).
- $10,000 — Sioux Falls Contractors Association Scholarship: For students enrolled at a college/university or a technical college (must be sponsored by an SFCA member to be eligible).
- $5,000 — John Shoemaker Memorial Scholarship: For high school graduates enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- $3,000 — SD LICA Scholarship: For students enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- $2,500 — BX Excellence Women in Construction Scholarship: For female students enrolled at a college/university or technical college.
- $2,500 — JR Loiseau Memorial Scholarship: For students enrolled at a technical college.
- $2,000 — AGC Associate Division Scholarship: For students enrolled at a college/university.
- $1,000 — Floyd Knight Memorial Scholarship: For students enrolled at a technical institute.
- Additional awards: More scholarships are available through the AGC of SD scholarship committee.

Sponsorship requirement
- All applicants must be sponsored by an AGC of South Dakota member.
- To be considered for the Sioux Falls Contractors Association scholarship specifically, you must be sponsored by an SFCA member.

Application checklist (complete all items)
- Complete every section of the application. Use N/A where appropriate.
- Provide proof of good academic standing:
- Current high school students: unofficial high school transcript.
- Current technical college or university students: unofficial college/university transcript.
- Up to three letters of recommendation are optional but recommended.
- Confirm your intent to work in South Dakota after graduation.
