Lee County Farm Bureau Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation
Since its inception in 1992, the Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation has been committed to fostering the growth of young adults interested in agriculture-related fields of study. To this end, the foundation has awarded a total of 100 scholarships to deserving students.
For high school seniors, the foundation offers three scholarships: the Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship, the Larry J. Green Memorial Scholarship, and the Gentry Family Agriculture Scholarship. The first two scholarships are valued at $1,500 each, while the latter is worth $1,000. The number of scholarships awarded is contingent upon the number of qualified applicants and the availability of funds.
To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria: they must be high school seniors, residents of Lee County, or members (or dependents of members) of the Lee County Farm Bureau in good standing. Additionally, they must be enrolled in a post-secondary school in an agriculture-related field of study and demonstrate potential for successful completion of their chosen course of study.
The selection process for these scholarships takes into account factors such as academic achievement, demonstrated interest in agriculture and agribusiness, evidence of a comprehensive financial plan for education, and character and personality. The Gentry Family Agriculture Scholarship has additional requirements: a minimum of two years of 4-H or FFA experience and priority is given to students graduating from Dixon and Amboy High Schools.
Upon awarding of the scholarships, the funds are distributed directly to the student after submission of their final grades for the completed semester following the scholarship notification. For high school seniors, grades are due by January 15.
For students at Sauk Valley Community College, the foundation offers the Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation SVCC Ag Program Scholarship, which ranges from $500 to $1,000. The eligibility criteria and selection process are similar to those for high school seniors.
For undergraduate students, the foundation offers the Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, valued at $1,500. The eligibility criteria can be found online.
Lastly, for veterinary students, the foundation offers the Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation Veterinary Scholarship, which can be up to $2,500. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship can also be found online.
