Columbiana-Mahoning-Trumbull Cattlemen Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Columbiana-Mahoning-Trumbull Cattlemen
Overview
The CMT Cattlemen are offering a scholarship for students planning to pursue agriculture or related studies. Agriculture needs well-trained graduates, and this scholarship is one way the local ag community supports that future. If you are a graduating high school senior planning to enroll full time in an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2026 and you plan to major in agriculture or an agriculture-related field, please consider applying.
Who may apply
- You must be a resident of Columbiana, Mahoning, or Trumbull County.
- You must be a graduating high school senior.
- Applicants who are children of CMT members, or children/grandchildren of past or present CMT Cattlemen directors, will be considered regardless of their stated field of study.
- All other applicants must plan to enroll in agriculture or an ag-related field.
- If you later wish to reapply (after your first undergraduate year), you may do so provided you remain an undergraduate student and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5.
What the scholarship covers and student status
- Scholarships are awarded each spring to help offset educational costs for the upcoming school year.
- Recipients must be full-time students planning to attain an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution recognized by the Cattlemen.
- Award payment will be issued upon receipt of proof of enrollment.
How to apply (checklist)
- Complete the attached application form.
- Include a current official transcript.
- Have an authorized school representative sign the application.
- Return the completed packet to the Scholarship Committee by May 15 (of the application year).
Selection and timeline
- The Scholarship Committee (CMT Cattlemen Board of Directors) selects recipients in late spring (May–June).
- Decisions are based on academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular involvement, and other relevant factors.
- Recipients will be notified in writing, by a board member in person, or at the school’s awards assembly.
A final word
If you’re interested in a career that supports our agricultural community, this is a real opportunity to help finance your education. Read the application carefully, meet the May 15 deadline, and don’t hesitate to ask your guidance counselor if you need help assembling your materials. Good luck.
