AAUW Las Vegas New Mexico Branch Scholarship

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a distinguished national organization comprised of women who have earned degrees. The primary mission of the AAUW is to advocate for equality in various sectors such as education, health care, professional careers, and wage parity for girls and women. The Las Vegas Branch of the AAUW, in alignment with these objectives, is delighted to announce the availability of a $500 scholarship award each fall semester. This award is intended for use in the subsequent spring semester at New Mexico Highlands University, with the recipient being chosen by our dedicated Scholarship Committee.
We invite students who fulfill the following criteria to apply:
- Applicants must be female, full-time degree-seeking undergraduates (enrolled in at least 12 hours) OR part-time (enrolled in at least 6 hours) degree-seeking graduate students.
- Applicants must be non-traditional students, defined as being 24 years of age or older, OR, if younger, having children.
- Applicants must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 for two consecutive semesters.
- Applicants must hail from northeastern New Mexico and must have attended NMHU for a minimum of two semesters.
To apply, applicants must complete and mail the following:
- The scholarship application form,
- A copy of their most recent academic transcript, and
- A brief personal statement outlining their educational and career aspirations, as well as the unique challenges they face as non-traditional female students.
