AAUW Boulder City (NV) Branch Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by American Association of University Women Inc
Quick update and what to expect
- Applications for Fall 2025 scholarships will be posted on this page in February.
- For context: in spring 2025 our branch awarded $6,000 in scholarships to seven students from Nevada State University and the University of Nevada, Reno.
Who is eligible
To be considered you must meet all of the following:
- U.S. citizen and a high school graduate or GED recipient.
- Resident of Boulder City, NV or Henderson, NV for at least one year.
- Enrolled in — or accepted to — a degree program (associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate) at a regionally accredited community college, four‑year college, or university.
- Have completed at least 15 college‑level credits (remedial courses excluded) with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Preference will be given to women.
- Willing to attend an in‑person interview if requested.
If you receive a scholarship
Recipients agree to:
- Join the AAUW Boulder City branch for one year (there is no cost for student members).
- Volunteer at two branch fundraising events (examples: Home Tour, Wine & Chocolate Tasting).
- Participate in at least two branch activities (examples: branch meetings, board meetings, book group).
What to submit
Make sure your application packet includes all of these items:
1. Completed application form (link will appear here in February).
2. One letter of recommendation that discusses your accomplishments, attributes, and academic/career goals. Letters may not be from relatives and must include the recommender’s contact information.
3. Personal statement — one page, typed and double‑spaced. Describe your education and career goals, the steps you’ve already taken to reach them, your financial need, and how this scholarship will help.
4. Unofficial transcripts for all college coursework showing at least 15 completed college‑level credits and the required cumulative GPA.
A quick note about GPA wording
The original materials contained two different GPA figures (2.75 in the eligibility list and 3.0 in the transcript instructions). I’ve used 2.75 above so the eligibility and transcript requirement match. If the committee intends the cutoff to be 3.0 instead, let me know and I will update the text.
