Our primary mission is to foster the growth of leaders, scholars, and citizens who will contribute positively to the University and the global community.
We achieve this through our two distinguished scholarship programs: the Jefferson Scholars Program and the Walentas Scholars Program. These initiatives are designed to nurture exceptional undergraduate students by providing them with the financial means to explore their interests, hone their skills, and engage in community service.
Both programs offer substantial financial aid packages, opportunities for enrichment, and access to the JSF network, which includes Scholars, Fellows, alumni, and volunteers.
Scholarship Awards
The Jefferson Scholarship and the Walentas Scholarship are designed to cover the entire cost of a four-year education at the University of Virginia. Additionally, they provide funding for supplemental enrichment experiences.
Selection Criteria
The recipients of the Jefferson and Walentas Scholarships are chosen through a rigorous selection process. These individuals are recognized for their exceptional academic and extracurricular records, as well as their potential to make a significant impact both within and beyond the classroom. The selection process consists of three stages: Nomination, Regional Review, and Final Selection.
