Program Overview
Act Six is a leadership and scholarship program that connects local faith-based community affiliates with faith- and social justice–based colleges. It equips emerging urban and community leaders to engage both the college campus and their home communities through a focused, four-part strategy. The program combines leadership development with scholarship support to prepare scholars for civic and campus leadership. Applying through the Common App streamlines the process for applicants.

Application & How to Apply
Applicants begin the process by submitting an interest form and adding Act Six to their Common App. There is no fee to apply to Act Six, and submitting a completed Common App also allows applicants to apply to many other colleges. The program works with the Common App to make the application process straightforward and efficient.

Eligibility & Selection
Prospective applicants must demonstrate a commitment to community leadership and intend to use their college education to make a difference. Eligibility includes recent high school graduates and those not currently enrolled at a four-year college, with two-year college students eligible to apply. Applicants must live in one of the Act Six program sites and be interested in attending at least one partner college in their site. The program seeks a diverse cohort and considers factors such as ethnicity and family income during selection.
Eligibility:
- Commitment to community leadership and civic engagement
- High school graduates (including recent graduates described by the program)
- Not currently enrolled at a four-year college (students at two-year colleges may apply)
- Residence in an Act Six program site and interest in partner colleges
- Diversity is intentionally considered during selection
- No income restrictions; applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged
Academic Expectations
There is no minimum GPA requirement for Act Six, but admissions standards vary across partner colleges. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 are generally expected to demonstrate readiness for college-level work through recommendations, essays, and/or test scores. The program evaluates academic preparedness alongside leadership potential and community commitment. Admissions decisions are made in the context of both college requirements and the program’s goal of assembling a diverse cohort.
