Curiosity and the willingness to solve problems are how we move forward. Kelley & Canterbury, LLC wants to encourage students across Anchorage and Alaska to approach learning and life with that same curious, courageous spirit — so they’re offering the Kelley & Canterbury, LLC Alaska Curiosity Scholarship.

About the firm
- Kelley & Canterbury have called Alaska home for decades. They focus on helping people in Anchorage who’ve been wrongfully injured, and they credit teachers, mentors, family, clients, and the wider community for getting them where they are.
- This scholarship is their way of paying that support forward: to be the community backing one Alaska student as they pursue their goals.

Scholarship at a glance
- Award: $1,000
- Who can apply: Any Alaska college student who will be enrolled in a two- to five-year institution in Alaska in 2023 (this includes colleges, graduate programs, law school, etc.).
- GPA: No minimum GPA required.

What you must submit
1. A short video (2–4 minutes) uploaded to YouTube.
2. A 500-word supporting essay submitted with your application.
3. The YouTube link included on your application form.
4. Be sure to read and follow the scholarship’s Terms and Conditions.

Video prompt (choose one)
- Option A: What motivates you to continue your education? How will you overcome challenges in college and keep investing in yourself?
- Option B: What is one issue you are committed to solving? Was there an experience of adversity that prompted you to act with curiosity and courage? What steps have you taken so far?

Tips from a teacher
- Be clear and specific: give concrete examples that show who you are and what you’ve done.
- Keep to the time limit: 2–4 minutes is enough to tell a focused story.
- Show growth and plan: explain both past actions and future steps.
- Technical basics: use good lighting and clear audio, and upload the video as an unlisted or public YouTube link.
- Proofread your essay and make sure your application fields match the information in your video.
