If you’re planning a career in the automotive aftermarket or commercial vehicle industry, this scholarship program is a smart place to start. Instead of filling out lots of separate applications, you submit one application and are considered for hundreds of scholarships from more than 40 different organizations. In short: one application, many opportunities.
What you should know
- Who can apply:
- Full-time students at an accredited U.S. college or university, or at an ASE/NATEF‑certified post‑secondary automotive, heavy‑duty, or collision repair school.
- Graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll full time at one of the schools above.
- Students who will not graduate from their college before December (i.e., you’ll still be enrolled in the coming academic year).
- No GPA requirement — the program does not set a minimum GPA for applicants.
A brief history (so you understand how this grew)
- 1996: The Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) began funding scholarships for students entering the automotive aftermarket.
- 2004: The application and review process moved completely online, making it easier and faster to apply.
- 2008: Additional donors began awarding scholarships through the centralized program.
- 2016: The University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF) took over operation of the program.
- Since the program began, more than 5,000 scholarships have been awarded through GAAS, UAF, Women in Auto Care, and many partner organizations.
