Overview
If a parent or guardian was seriously, catastrophically, or fatally injured in a work-related accident, Kids’ Chance of Georgia offers educational help to keep you moving forward. Our goal is to make college or technical training more attainable for students affected by workplace injuries in their families.
Scholarship awards
- General scholarships: $2,000 per semester (up to $4,000 per academic year).
- High school scholarships: $100 per month during the academic year.
Who is eligible
To qualify, applicants must:
- Have a parent or guardian who was seriously, catastrophically, or fatally injured in a work-related accident.
- Meet the criteria of the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Act.
- Be between 16 and 25 years old.
- Be enrolled full time in a post-secondary school (university, community college, technical school, etc.).
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
- Note: Funding will not exceed five academic years (10 semesters).
Selection process
All applications are reviewed and decided by the Scholarship Committee of Kids’ Chance of Georgia. Applications are considered on their merits and in light of the program’s purpose to support students whose families have been affected by serious workplace injuries.
