Welcome — and yes, you should read this carefully if you or someone you advise is thinking about studying STEM in college. What this program is - The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program started in 2018 to help develop the next generation of STEM talent. - In 2024 the program will award $10,000 each to 100 students studying an eligible STEM major at a U.S. four-year college or university. - Awards may be renewed up to three times, for a maximum total of $40,000 per student (initial award plus renewals). Who should consider applying - High school seniors planning to enter a four-year STEM degree program, or current college students who are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors. - Students with demonstrated financial need. - Students who are U.S. citizens and plan to attend a full-time, accredited U.S. four-year college or university. Minimum academic standard - A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (high school seniors or undergraduate students in their first through third year). Eligible majors - Aerospace Engineering - Computer Engineering - Computer Science - Electrical Engineering - Electrical and Computer Engineering - Industrial Engineering - Mathematics - Physics What the selection committee looks for Applicants are evaluated by Scholarship America (Lockheed Martin does not take part in recipient selection). Factors include: - Academic performance - Leadership and participation in school and community activities - Work experience - A personal statement outlining educational and career goals - Unusual personal or family circumstances - An outside appraisal or recommendation Priority given to students who self-identify as members of groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM, including: - Women - Racial and ethnic minorities - Individuals with a disability (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act) - Individuals who identify as LGBTQ - First-generation college students - Active duty U.S. military, Reserves, National Guard, veterans, and spouses of those who serve or have served Important notes - The scholarship does not require a Lockheed Martin internship, and receiving a scholarship does not guarantee an internship. Applicants should indicate interest in a paid internship after their freshman, sophomore, or junior year if they want to be considered for internship opportunities. - Scholarship America makes the final selection; applicants agree to accept their decision as final. - Lockheed Martin promotes equal opportunity and intentional inclusion.
