Acquiring knowledge in CPR and basic first aid is a fundamental skill that could potentially empower any individual to save a life. The future educators and healthcare professionals among us take this mission a step further by dedicating their careers to the promotion of health and wellness. In recognition of this noble pursuit, The American Academy of CPR and First Aid is delighted to sponsor the “Save a Life” Scholarship, exclusively available to students majoring in the healthcare and education fields.

We understand that both teaching and caregiving can be demanding yet immensely rewarding professions. This understanding fuels our commitment to support the educational and career progression of future doctors, nurses, technicians, professors, and teachers across all specializations through this scholarship. Our aim is to contribute to your educational journey.

The "Save a Life" Scholarship

The “Save a Life” Scholarship, valued at $1,500, is awarded biannually: once in the spring and once in the fall. Each award will be granted to a different student, with the aim of maximizing the impact of the scholarship, promoting the significance of first aid and CPR training, and sharing the inspiring stories of future educators and healthcare professionals.

Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements:

A) Any student currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in the next academic year, in a degree program in the fields of healthcare or education at an accredited U.S. university, is eligible to apply.

B) Applicants must provide their school GPA.

C) Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

D) We adopt a comprehensive perspective of what constitutes a “healthcare field,” which can include students pursuing degrees or careers in mental health, as well as administrative and non-profit programs. Applicants will have the opportunity to argue why their chosen field of study can be classified as healthcare or education-focused in their essay.

E) If you are not selected, it does not mean we are not interested in your story — we encourage unsuccessful applicants to re-apply in subsequent scholarship rounds. Scholarships will only be awarded once to each winner. Previous winners are not eligible to apply again.

F) Please refrain from sending emails inquiring about the receipt of your essay. Unless you receive a failure to deliver message, rest assured we have received your submission.

H) Please note that applicants will not be notified if they were not selected. We kindly ask that you refrain from emailing us to inquire about the selection of the winner. Winners are selected approximately 30 days after each scholarship deadline.

I) The scholarship winner will be required to submit a photocopy of a government-issued state identification card or driver's license.
