Olin E Teague Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by National Space Club

Value: $4,000.00
Awards Available: 1

The National Space Club and Foundation, established in 1957, is a non-profit organization that brings together representatives from various sectors including industry, government, academia, and private individuals. The primary objective of this organization is to foster the United States' leadership in the fields of space exploration, rocketry, astronautics, and related technologies.

Each year, the Space Club presents a scholarship in honor of the Honorable Olin E. Teague, a Congressional Representative who was a staunch advocate for our national space program. The purpose of this scholarship is to inspire and support promising young individuals to pursue careers in aerospace fields.

The Olin E. Teague Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior who meets specific eligibility criteria. The scholarship, valued at $4,000, is awarded to a student graduating from an accredited U.S. high school who intends to attend an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and must plan to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in an aerospace field.

The selection process for the scholarship is conducted by the Club's Committee on Scholarships. The committee bases its decision on several factors:

A) The applicant's official high school transcript.
B) At least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or mentor in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field.
C) A Statement of Intent that outlines the applicant's academic plans leading to a career in aerospace sciences and/or technology. This statement should be a minimum of 500 words and no longer than two pages.
D) A research paper that focuses on applications to aerospace. This paper should be a minimum of five pages (additional details regarding the paper format can be found in later sections).

It's important to note that "research" in this context refers to the applicant's involvement in original research, potentially as part of an ongoing project. It does not refer to the process of reporting previously collected information from various sources.
