Dear Prospective Spotlight Applicant,
I am delighted to see your interest in the Spotlight competition. This unique platform not only offers cash scholarships but also fosters artistic development among high school students. It is designed to instill values such as preparation, courage, critical thinking, and perseverance, while simultaneously providing an invaluable opportunity for students to refine their performing skills.
We welcome applications from Southern California high school students of all skill levels, and the best part is, applying is absolutely free! Each year, we award $100,000 in cash scholarships. In addition, students receive personalized feedback, the chance to attend mastery classes with globally acclaimed artists, and much more. Spotlight is not just a competition; it's an educational experience that's always enjoyable.
Applying is a straightforward process. Simply fill out an application and upload a video of your performance.
To be eligible to apply, you must:
1. Be a high school student attending a public, private, online, or home school in Southern California. Your residence must be in one of the following counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Riverside, Kern, or San Bernardino. Dance and Ballet students, please refer to the category rules page for out-of-state residency exceptions.
2. Be enrolled as a high school student as of December 31, 2025. Full-time college students are not eligible.
3. Be available to attend the rehearsal and show for the Grand Prize Finals (date to be determined).
4. Apply to one or more of the following categories: Acting, Ballet, Dance, Classical Voice, Non-Classical Voice, Classical Instrumental, or Contemporary Instrumental. You are welcome to apply to as many categories as you wish.
5. Thoroughly read all the information provided in the application.
6. Complete the online application by October 13, 2025. Please avoid last-minute submissions.
7. Prepare and upload your audition video.
8. Obtain consent from your parent/guardian for your participation.
