GEM Fellowship Program

The primary aim of this initiative is to highlight the advantages of pursuing a master's degree within the industry. As part of the GEM Fellowship, students are offered valuable engineering work experience during the summer, sponsored by an employer. Additionally, they receive a comprehensive academic year fellowship that covers tuition, fees, and a stipend. This fellowship can be utilized at any GEM Member University where the GEM Fellow has been accepted.

Please note that the financial package outlined below is applicable to GEM Fellowships commencing in the Fall or later. It is not retroactive for GEM Fellows who began their fellowship before this period. It's important to remember that University/Associate Fellows are nominated by the University, not chosen by the applicant.

Benefits



Employer Fellows (All applicants must be available for selection by an employer. University Sponsorship is required.)


  • A living stipend of $4,000 per full-time semester for up to 4 semesters (equivalent to $8K per academic year for 3 quarters).

  • A minimum total stipend of $16,000 over the entire Master’s program.

  • Up to two paid summer internships with a GEM Employer Member.

  • Full tuition and fees covered by a GEM University Member.



The GEM Member University will provide a financial contract at the time the GEM Fellowship is confirmed, following the recommended distribution of the GEM Employer contribution.

University/Associate Fellows are nominated by the university, not chosen by the applicant.

University Fellows




  • Full tuition and fees covered by the GEM Member University.



Associate Fellows




  • Full tuition and fees covered by the GEM Member University.

  • A minimum stipend of $8,000 per year provided by the GEM Member University for Master's students.

  • A minimum stipend of $16,000 per year provided by the GEM Member University for PhD students.



Program Eligibility




  • Applicants must be a senior, or a graduate of an accredited engineering or computer science program at the time of application.

  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8/4.0.

  • Applicants must contractually agree to intern for two summers with the sponsoring GEM Employer, beginning the Summer after sponsorship.
