Summary
This scholarship awards $25,000 to a post‑baccalaureate student pursuing graduate study in the water environment field. Funds are intended for education‑related expenses.
Who may apply
- Post‑baccalaureate students who are enrolled in, or about to enter, a graduate program in the water environment field. (A letter of acceptance is acceptable for applicants entering their first year.)
Application checklist (what you must submit)
1. Current WEF membership — the applicant must be a Water Environment Federation (WEF) member in good standing (not expired).
2. Completed online application that includes a summary of your academic and practical experience in the environmental/water field.
3. Official college/university transcripts.
4. Three letters of recommendation. At least one recommender must be a current WEF member. Recommenders should be able to speak to your academic and/or practical experience.
5. Personal statement of degree objectives and career intent, focused on the water environment field (minimum 750 words; maximum 1,000 words). This statement must be included with the application.
6. Agreement to the employment expectation: scholarship recipients are expected to commit to working in the water environment field for two years after completing their degree.
Other important details
- The award is intended to cover education‑related expenses. Recipients are responsible for any taxes due on the award.
- The online application opens annually on January 15 and closes annually on March 31 at 11:59 PM Eastern. All application materials — including the three letters of reference — must be submitted by that deadline.
