In the past couple decades, higher education enrollment rates for Hispanic students have risen dramatically, with an all-time record enrollment rate of 37%.
Oftentimes, the Hispanic student population finds themselves as the first in their families to navigate the exploration of higher education. College costs are high, but the Cisneros Climaco Scholarship seeks to encourage students to pursue higher education by providing scholarships for low-income Hispanic students in Florida.
High school seniors who are planning to pursue trade school or college education can apply if they have a 2.5 GPA or higher and are from a low-income background. To apply, write a letter to yourself five years down the line, and include a description of your family's Hispanic background.
