Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship

The Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship is a prestigious award established in 2009 by the York Art Association. This scholarship was created in honor of the late Letitia Moore, a renowned artist and esteemed member of the York Art Association. The scholarship embodies Moore's desire to support and encourage students of art and art history by providing them with tuition scholarships.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
1. The student must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
2. The student must be majoring in either art or art history.
3. The student must have completed their first year of study with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Please note that YAA Trustees, their family members, or those who make candidate recommendations are not eligible to participate in this program.
Application Process
To apply for the scholarship, students must submit an application letter that includes the following:
- A description of the applicant's educational and career goals, along with any information that demonstrates the applicant's merit.
- A letter of reference, including the names and contact details of two or three individuals who are familiar with the applicant's abilities and aspirations.
- Proof of eligibility, which should be an official transcript from the college or university. This transcript should show that the applicant is enrolled beyond the first year of study with a major in art or art history and has achieved a grade point average of at least 3.0 in the previous year of study. If the institution does not use a GPA grading system, a letter indicating the student's good standing from the department chair or advisor may be substituted.
Application Deadline and Scholarship Details
The deadline for applications is September 1st of the current scholarship year. A decision will be made within 60 days of this deadline. The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university and are intended to cover tuition costs only.
