Overview
At the Law Offices of Coats & Todd we’ve spent more than 20 years representing people with Social Security disability claims throughout Dallas and the surrounding area. We know how much a physical injury, chronic illness, or mental-health challenge can change a student’s day-to-day life. To help, we offer the Law Offices of Coats & Todd Overcoming Disability Scholarship twice each year.
Award details
- Amount: $2,500
- Who can use it: any college-related expense (tuition, books, housing, supplies, etc.)
- Frequency: awarded twice yearly (semesterly)
Who this scholarship is for
We are looking for college students who are managing a physical or psychological disability that affects their ability to work. In addition to that, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Will be attending an accredited college or university for the Spring 2025 semester
- Will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program when the award is received
- At least 17 years old at the time of application
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
How to apply
Complete the online application form at the bottom of this page. Before you begin, have these items ready:
- Contact information
- Proof of current enrollment (acceptance letter, enrollment verification, or similar)
- A headshot
- A high-quality video response to the prompt (see below)
Video prompt and technical requirements
Record a 3–5 minute video that answers both of these questions:
1) What would this scholarship mean to you, and how would it help you reach your academic or career goals?
2) How has your disability affected the choices you’ve made in life?
Technical notes:
- Submit your video as a URL (not an uploaded movie file). Examples: an unlisted YouTube link or a shared Google Drive/Dropbox URL.
- Make sure audio is clear and the image is steady; speak directly and honestly.
