The National Horticulture Foundation (NHF) is committed to fostering the growth and development of students interested in horticulture and related fields. Through its scholarship programs, the NHF provides financial assistance to deserving students, enabling them to gain valuable experience, earn post-secondary degrees, and become active contributors and leaders in various sectors such as landscape professionals, arborists, landscape architecture, and research. Scholarships are awarded annually, with a deadline for all applications set for January 15. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 (C) or above, and previous award recipients are welcome to reapply each year.

James S. Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund honors the memory of James Davis, the founder and owner of Davis Tree Farm from 1978 until his untimely death in May 1995. A dedicated member of the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGA), Davis was known for his active involvement in committee and trade show activities. Scholarships range from $500 to $3,000, with the amount awarded based on individual applications. To be eligible, students must be full-time undergraduates attending a community college, university, or technical institution within Florida.

General Application Fund

The General Application Fund is made possible by the generous contributions of industry members to the NHF. Scholarships range from $500 to $3,000, with the amount awarded based on individual applications. Eligible applicants include full-time graduate students and undergraduates attending a community college, university, or technical institution outside of Florida.

Hoskin/McDougald Scholarship Fund

The Bob Hoskins and Sandy McDougald Scholarship was established by the Palm Beach Chapter of the FNGA to honor the dedication and service of these two industry stalwarts. The scholarship is generously supported by numerous industry members and aims to educate the next generation of industry professionals. Eligibility for this scholarship requires residency within Palm Beach, Broward, Okeechobee, Martin, St. Lucie, or Indian River County for a minimum of one year.

FNGLA NE Chapter Scholarship "Billy Barwald Memorial Scholarship"

The Billy Barwald Memorial Scholarship was established in 2016 by the Northeast Chapter of the FNGA to honor Billy Barwald's dedication and service to the horticultural industry. Billy was a charter member of the FNGA and was inducted into the FNGLA’s Hall of Fame in 2010. This scholarship, which awards $2500 to one student per year, is a fitting tribute to Billy's legacy and aims to invest in the future of the horticultural industry. Eligible students must reside in St. Johns, Duval, Clay, Nassau, or Baker County and plan to attend a college in Florida.

Taking Root Scholarship - Arborjet | Ecologel

The Taking Root Scholarship is open to students enrolled in accredited arboriculture or horticulture programs. Ideal candidates should have a passion for studying science and technology to advance the industry and should demonstrate prior community engagement and a curiosity to explore plant healthcare needs. This scholarship awards $2500 to one student per year. Eligible students must be full-time undergraduates with a desire to pursue a career in arboriculture or plant health care.
