The Nutmeg Scholarship is a prestigious award that recognizes the outstanding achievements of Connecticut high school seniors. To be considered for this scholarship, students must exhibit exceptional academic prowess, have a record of significant contributions to their school and community, and embody the characteristics of a responsible citizen and leader. The selection process for the Nutmeg Scholarship is highly competitive, with the number of applications far surpassing the available scholarships. It's important to note that applicants may be considered for the Nutmeg Scholarship, Stamps Scholarship, or Day of Pride Scholarship, but not all three simultaneously. For those applying through the Early Decision process, please be aware that Nutmeg Scholarship recipients will not be notified at the time of admission. The selection for the Nutmeg Scholarship will be finalized in early February. Now, let's delve into the eligibility criteria and selection process for the Nutmeg Scholarship: Eligibility & Selection Process for the Nutmeg Scholarship: 1. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident Alien (with proof of alien registration card and/or proof of immigration status in the USA), or an undocumented student who has resided in Connecticut for two or more years. 2. Applicants must be Connecticut residents, currently enrolled in a Connecticut secondary school, and expected to graduate and enroll at the University of Connecticut in the fall semester of 2026. 3. Applicants must have participated in leadership activities in high school and/or their community. 4. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to community service. 5. Submission of standardized test scores is optional. However, if choosing to submit, applicants should have a minimum combined SAT Score of 1370 or an ACT composite score of 30. 6. Applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale and rank (if available) in the top 10% of their graduating class. The selection process will consider the following factors: 1. Academic achievement (including rank in class, if available; GPA; and optional standardized test scores) 2. Letters of recommendation 3. Short answer responses 4. Leadership in school and community 5. Interview (as determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee) Important Deadlines: 1. November 1, 2025: Deadline to complete either the Common Application or Coalition Application 2. November 8, 2025: Deadline for the Nutmeg Supplemental Application After submitting the Common Application or Coalition Application, applicants will receive an email within two days with instructions on how to access the applicant portal where the Nutmeg Supplemental Application is provided. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions must receive the Nutmeg Supplemental Form, along with all required documents, by November 8, 2025.
