Stamps Scholars Program

The Stamps Scholarship is a prestigious award that recognizes the remarkable achievements of high school seniors. This scholarship seeks students who not only excel acadically, but also exhibit commendable service to their school and community, embodying the virtues of good citizenship and leadership.
It's important to note that Early Decision applicants who apply for the Stamps Scholarship will not receive notification of their award status at the time of admission. The selection for the Stamps Scholarship will be conducted in early February.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a student currently enrolled in a secondary school, with an expectation to graduate and enroll at the University of Connecticut in the fall semester of 2026.
- Have a record of involvement in leadership activities in their school or community.
- Have demonstrated a commitment to community service.
- Submission of standardized test scores is optional. However, if applicants choose to submit, they should have a minimum combined SAT Score of 1420 or an ACT composite score of 32.
- Applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale and, if available, rank in the top 10% of their graduating class.
Selection Process:
The selection process will consider the following factors:
- Academic achievement (including class rank, if available; GPA; and optional standardized test scores).
- Letters of recommendation.
- Responses to short answer questions.
- Leadership roles in school and community.
- Interview (as determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee).
Required Documents
Along with a completed application for admission, applicants must provide their full name and date of birth on each required document. These include:
- Stamps Scholarship Supplemental Application: This will become available in the applicant portal once a student has completed the Common Application or Coalition Application. The Supplemental Application requires the following short-answer responses:
- What service to your community are you the most proud of and why? (100 words)
- The University of Connecticut is committed to helping every student grow intellectually and become a contributing member of the state, national, and world communities. How will you make UConn and the world a better place? (200 words)
- Stamps Scholars are exceptional students and meaningful leaders. Why do you feel that you meet this description? (100 words)
- Résumé: A detailed résumé highlighting activities, accomplishments, talents, and work experience should be uploaded in the Stamps Scholarship Supplemental Application.
- Letters of Recommendation: While optional for the admission process, two letters of recommendation from a teacher, a counselor, or an administrator are required for Stamps Scholarship consideration. These letters can be sent through electronic services like Naviance, emailed to onestop@uconn.edu, faxed to (860) 486-1476, or sent via postal mail.
