Overview The Oregon Sheep Growers Association offers a scholarship—up to $1,500—to help Oregon students pursuing agriculture-related studies. The award is meant to pay direct educational costs like tuition, books, or academic fees and is specifically intended for students with a career interest in the sheep industry.
Who is eligible
- Must be an Oregon resident (you do not have to attend college in Oregon).
- Must be at least a sophomore in college (sophomore level or above).
- Must be majoring in an agriculture-related field, agricultural sciences, or pre‑veterinary medicine, and have a clear career interest in the sheep industry.
- Applications for the next academic year must be submitted by July 15 of the current year.
What to include (application checklist) Return the cover sheet along with:
- A personal essay describing your career plans and long‑term goals (explain how the sheep industry fits into those plans).
- An official transcript of all college coursework completed to date.
- Two letters of recommendation.
Selection and award A committee selects the recipient. The award is presented in the fall. The scholarship check will be made payable to both the student and the educational institution the student attends.
