The Community Foundation helps San Luis Obispo County students turn plans into progress. With gifts from individuals, families, businesses and organizations, the Foundation funds scholarships for high school seniors, current college students, and students returning to school. If you’re aiming for higher education, these awards are worth your attention.
Who can apply
- High school seniors, undergraduates, and returning students who live in or attend school in San Luis Obispo County.
One application for many scholarships
- You can apply for most Foundation scholarships through a single online application. There are 45+ scholarships available through that one application. Overall, the Foundation administers more than 65 different scholarships totaling over $420,000. Note: every scholarship has its own eligibility criteria and requirements, so read each description carefully.
2026 calendar (important deadlines)
- November 14, 2025: Online application opens
- January 30, 2026: Application closes at midnight
- April 2026: Scholarship award notifications sent to students
How to prepare (teacher’s checklist)
- Read each scholarship’s eligibility and requirements before you start.
- Gather transcripts, test scores (if required), letters of recommendation, and a clear personal statement.
- Fill out the single online application thoroughly and proofread before submitting.
- Submit by the January 30 deadline — late applications are usually not considered.

- Established in 2000, the Foundation’s Scholarship Program was created to make higher education attainable for local students. The program is supported by generous donors and administered to match students with the scholarships that fit them best.
