Overview
The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Foundation (TSCRF) awards one-year scholarships to students pursuing degrees in agriculture. Preference is given to students planning careers in beef cattle production. Recipients may reapply for a second year, but a renewal is not guaranteed. The number and amount of awards depend on available funding.

Who is eligible (2026–2027)
To apply you must meet all of these requirements:
- Be accepted to or enrolled at an accredited college or university in Texas or Oklahoma, and be pursuing an agriculture or agriculture‑related degree (examples: Animal Science, Pre‑Vet, Agribusiness, Range Management, Wildlife). You must plan to work in agriculture.
- Be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Texas or Oklahoma.
- Be a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association or be sponsored by a member.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Transcripts from all colleges attended are required; if you’re a high school senior, include your high school transcript.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Submit two recommendations from non‑relatives (recommendation forms must be mailed to the Foundation office).
- Have a background that includes beef cattle production.

Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, gender, religion, or ethnicity.

What to submit (checklist)
Complete the online application and upload the following:
- Headshot photo (jpg). Preferred print sizes: 4"x6" or 3"x5".
- Transcripts (official preferred; unofficial acceptable if official transcripts are not available by the deadline).
- Personal essay describing:
- Who you are and your educational goals,
- The career or “life’s work” you are preparing for,
- Why you should receive this scholarship,
- How you intend to participate in and contribute to the cattle industry and culture. (Include this topic in your essay.)
- Two recommendation forms or letters from non‑relatives. Important: recommendation forms MUST be mailed to the Foundation office (they cannot be uploaded).

How to apply
- Start by reading the application FAQs in the website’s application area so you understand the process and requirements.
- Upload your application and required documents through the online system.

- Incomplete applications or missing documents will not be considered. All application information will be kept confidential by the Foundation.

Scholarship award details
- Awards are paid by check to the university the student will attend for the upcoming fall semester.
- Payment requires that the recipient be registered in the major listed on the application.
- Awards are paid in two equal installments: one for the fall semester and one for the spring semester. The Foundation issues the checks and mails them to the university.
- If the recipient fails to meet enrollment requirements by September 30, the award will be forfeited. Failure to meet requirements for the second payment will result in forfeiture of that payment.
- Any failure to meet the award requirements is a breach of the scholarship agreement and may result in revocation of the scholarship.

Final notes (teacher’s advice)
- Read the FAQs before you begin and use the checklist above to avoid missing items.
- Mail recommendation forms early so they arrive by the deadline.
- Make sure your essay specifically addresses how you will take part in the cattle industry and culture—this is important to the reviewers.
