Chao Family Foundation Scholarship

Summary
- Five scholarships of $4,000 each are available to high school seniors. Each award is renewable for up to four years. Awards are for students who will attend a University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) full time beginning Fall 2026.
Who is eligible
- Current high school seniors who live in Los Angeles County or Orange County, CA.
- Intend to enroll as a first‑year student at a UC or CSU in Fall 2026. (If selected, you will be asked to provide a college acceptance letter for verification.)
- Minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.2.
- Household income at or below the County Low Income Level. (If selected, you will be asked to provide a 2024 or 2025 tax return for verification.)
- Open to all majors. There is no ethnicity requirement.

Important application notes
- One common application covers all scholarship programs for which you are eligible — you do not need to submit a separate application for each program.
- The application will go live in December 2025.
- All materials must be RECEIVED by 11:59 pm PDT on Monday, April 20, 2026. Anything received after that date/time will not be considered, regardless of postmark.
- Applications must be submitted online. Hard copies will NOT be accepted.
How the award may be used
- Scholarship funds may be used only to cover tuition costs as defined by the college or university you attend.

- Selected applicants must provide verification documents (college acceptance letter and 2024 or 2025 tax return as noted above).
