Charlotte and Ed Rodgers Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Alabama Road Builders Association

Value: $2,000
Awards Available: 6
Deadline : Sep 15, 2025

In 1978, the Alabama Road Builders Association established the Charlotte and Ed Rodgers Scholarship Fund with the aim of fostering excellence within Alabama's transportation construction industry. Since its establishment, the fund has been annually awarding scholarships to students who have shown exceptional academic performance in pre-engineering studies.

Eligibility for this scholarship is limited to full-time civil engineering students who have successfully completed their sophomore year. Additionally, applicants must maintain a satisfactory grade point average and be in good academic standing with their respective universities.

The selection process for the scholarship takes into account a student's involvement in community, honorary, or service organizations, their academic excellence, and their demonstrated leadership qualities. The scholarships are not merely a financial aid, but a recognition of the student's overall accomplishments and potential.

The scholarship applications are meticulously reviewed by a board of trustees. This board is composed of members from the Alabama Road Builders Association and faculty members from the Departments of Civil Engineering at Auburn University, The University of Alabama, and The University of South Alabama. Typically, the board awards five or six scholarships, each valued at $2,000.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship should complete the application form and submit it to the Alabama Road Builders Association. Additional application forms can be procured from the Civil Engineering Departments at Auburn University and the University of Alabama. Please note that the deadline for application submission is September 15th. Successful applicants will be notified towards the end of September.
