Texas Medical Excellence Scholarship

The Texas Medical Excellence Scholarship, a brainchild of Dr. Emily J. Kirby, was established with the aim of fostering, inspiring, and promoting Texas students who are embarking on a journey in the medical field. This scholarship, amounting to $2,500, is open to all medical students residing in Texas.
The scholarship funds are intended to be utilized for tuition fees and other educational expenses. These may encompass textbooks, stationery items such as paper, pens, notebooks, etc., necessary technology, on-campus dining, accommodation, and transportation costs.
The scholarship amount will be awarded directly to the selected student in the form of a cash prize. It is incumbent upon the recipient to handle any tax forms and obligations that may arise. We advise the scholarship awardees to seek guidance from a tax professional to ensure they are in compliance and accurately reporting on their taxes.
Eligibility Criteria
The Texas Medical Excellence Scholarship is accessible to Texas residents who are actively engaged in medical education. To be considered eligible, applicants must fulfill the following prerequisites:
- The applicant must be a current resident of Texas.
- The applicant must be an undergraduate or postgraduate medical student, pursuing a degree or career in a medicine-related field at a higher education institution, either in-person or online.
- The applicant must provide one letter of recommendation, complete with valid contact information, and a professional headshot.
- The applicant must complete the application form, provide original essay responses (note: all essays will be scrutinized for AI-generated content), and upload a completed application, a professional headshot, and one letter of reference.
- The successful applicant must consent to the public announcement of their name and the use of their photograph.
