At the age of 32, Keisha Bodden, born and raised in Cocoa and Orlando, Florida, passed away from breast cancer on July 31, 2002, leaving behind three daughters. Keisha received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Crime Prevention from UCF where she was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Pi Psi Chapter. She was a community organizer and advocate for youth. Her professional career was dedicated to working within the juvenile justice system and the community to help people reach their potential and fulfill their purpose in life.
In keeping with her legacy of community and youth involvement, The Keisha Bodden Scholarship Fund is offering two (2) $1,500 academic college scholarships to high school seniors in Central Florida. Eligible students must attend, beginning Fall 2025, an accredited four-year Florida college or university.
The winners will be notified on June 15, 2025, and the actual scholarship award will be presented to the students during the fall semester of his/her first school year. To be considered for this scholarship, seniors must meet eligibility requirements. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All information listed below must be submitted as one complete package by May 15, 2025.
- Enrolled as a senior in a Central Florida high school
- Completed application form
- Answer to questions and essays
- Unofficial or Official Transcript with Proof of cumulative GPA of 83% or B- (2.75 GPA equivalent)
- Letter(s) of recommendation from counselor and/or teacher
- Accepted to a Florida college or university
- Demonstrate a financial need
- Demonstrated extra-curricular or community volunteer involvement
- Must be a U.S. citizen
