The Rolando Jimenez Memorial Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to students who have lost a parent and are seeking to further their education at a college or trade school. Our board carefully reviews each application to ensure that the candidates meet our established criteria. The scholarship awards fluctuate based on the donations received by the Foundation and the number of approved applicants. Typically, the award amounts range from $500 to $1,500 per recipient. These funds are allocated for a single semester, but recipients are welcome to reapply for additional aid for each new semester.
The application periods are from September 1st to February 28th for the Fall semester, and from March 1st to August 31st for the Spring semester. We usually notify the recipients in June and December, respectively. Applicants may be required to provide supporting documents such as recent report cards, proof of school enrollment, college applications, and so on. The Foundation officers review all applications to identify the candidates who would benefit the most from the financial aid. The final approval is given by our board. The basic eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Applicant has lost one or both parents
- Applicant's residence prior to pursuing further education was in a county within the greater DFW area
- Applicant is a high school senior or a current college/trade school student
- Applicant has a GPA of 3.0 or higher on their most recent report card
