Agrawal Fellowship for Resilient Scholars
Scholarship Sponsored by Agrawal Fellowship for Resilient Scholars
Think of the Agrawal Fellowship for Resilient Scholars as a four-year support system for motivated Bay Area students who’ve lost a parent. We’re a cohort-based program that combines practical help—money, academic advising, and planning—with emotional and social support so students can focus on learning and growing in college.
What the fellowship provides (Four Pillars)
- Academic: Personalized guidance to help you succeed in college coursework. We recognize every student’s path is different, so advising and resources are tailored to individual needs.
- Financial: A $10,000 annual scholarship to reduce tuition pressure, plus financial planning and guidance so money is less of a barrier to your education.
- Wellness: Mental health and grief support are central. Fellows receive individual counseling, grief support groups, and wellness resources to help them stay healthy and resilient.
- Social: You’ll be part of a cohort and an enduring alumni network—peers and mentors who understand your experience and can offer practical and emotional support.
Who is eligible
To apply for the Agrawal Fellowship, students must meet these requirements:
- Be a current high school student attending school in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, Sonoma, or Solano).
- Have experienced the loss of a parent (biological, adoptive, step-parent, or legal guardian).
- Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA (we do recognize that personal circumstances may have affected academic performance).
- Be accepted to, and planning to enroll at, an accredited four-year college or university.
- Be willing to take an active role in cohort activities, workshops, mentoring, and community events throughout all four years of college.
What we look for beyond the basics
We want students who:
- Demonstrate resilience and determination in pursuing education despite hardship.
- Are open to building meaningful connections with peers and mentors.
- Show a commitment to their own wellness, personal growth, and community.
- Are willing to share their experience and support fellow scholars.
If this sounds like you—or someone you know—this fellowship is designed to help you navigate college not just academically, but financially, emotionally, and socially.
