Stokes Educational Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Defense Intelligence Agency
The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program presents an exceptional opportunity for high school seniors, especially those from minority backgrounds, who are interested in pursuing a major in computer science, computer/electrical engineering, or Chinese or Russian languages. This program not only supports your academic journey but also provides practical experience in your chosen field.
As a participant in the Stokes Program, you will be a full-time college student during the academic year and then transition to a summer internship at the National Security Agency's (NSA) headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland. This internship, lasting a minimum of 12 weeks, will be directly related to your field of study, providing you with invaluable real-world experience. Moreover, you will receive a year-round salary, and upon graduation, a position at the NSA in your area of study will be waiting for you, eliminating the stress of job hunting.
For those interested in Computer Science, the NSA offers opportunities in areas such as applications programming, computer security and graphics, and the design and implementation of software involving database management systems, real-time systems, networking, and distributed processing systems.
For students pursuing Computer/Electrical Engineering, the NSA provides a wide range of experiences from pure and applied research, design, development and testing to project management and systems analysis. You will have the opportunity to work on projects focusing on communication systems, computer security and networking, microprocessor applications, software engineering, and optics.
For those proficient in Chinese or Russian, the NSA is currently accepting applications.
By participating in the Stokes Educational Scholarship Program, you are committing to work for the NSA for a period equivalent to 1.5 times the length of your study upon graduation.
The benefits of the Stokes Program are substantial, including:
A) Tuition and mandatory fees covered up to $30,000 per year
B) A year-round salary while attending college
C) Housing and travel allowances during summer employment (if the distance between the NSA and your school exceeds 75 miles)
D) Paid time off, health & life insurance, and a federal retirement plan
