Arizona's Dorrance Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Dorrance Family

Value: $100,000.00
Awards Available: 30

Quick overview The Dorrance Scholarship is a need-based award for Arizona students who will be the first in their families to earn a four‑year degree. It provides more than money: financial support, academic help, and enrichment experiences designed to build college-going traditions and increase persistence and success in college and beyond.

Why it matters Think of this scholarship as a launchpad. In addition to covering costs, it connects first‑generation students with resources and real‑world experiences that make the jump to college easier and more successful.

How to apply (three phases)

  • Phase I (deadline): Submit the online application, required verification documents, and your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) by Wednesday, February 4, 2026, 4:59 p.m. (AZ Standard Time).
  • Phase II (semi‑finalists): Semi‑finalists are announced in February. If selected, you must submit the Phase II materials — including writing samples and two letters of recommendation — by Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 4:59 p.m. (AZ Standard Time).
  • Phase III (finalists): Finalists are invited to an in‑person interview in April. Scholarship recipients are announced by April 30 each year.

Eligibility checklist (you must meet all)

  • Arizona resident
  • Current graduating high school senior (public, private, charter, or home school)
  • First‑generation college student (neither parent, stepparent, nor legal guardian holds a four‑year degree from any country)
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA (weighted or unweighted)
  • Minimum test score: 1110 SAT, 22 ACT, or 72 CLT
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Plan to attend one of: ASU Tempe, NAU Flagstaff, or UA Tucson
  • Agree to live in on‑campus housing for your first two years

A few practical tips from a teacher

  • Start your FAFSA early so you can get the FSS in time.
  • Request recommendation letters well before the March 4 deadline and give your recommenders a copy of your résumé or a short summary of your activities.
  • Draft your writing samples early and ask a teacher or counselor to review them.

If this matches you, please apply — we’d love to see your application.
