The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) is a significant benefactor in the realm of higher education, annually distributing over $5 million in scholarships to underrepresented minority (URM) students. These scholarships are not solely corporate-funded; NACME also manages scholarships on behalf of various foundations, government agencies, family endowments, and bequests. To qualify for any of the scholarships administered by NACME, students must meet certain criteria. They must either be a high school senior applying to an engineering or computer science program, within one year of graduating from high school, or enrolled in a community college program with the intention of applying to a NACME Partner Institution. Alternatively, they could be currently enrolled in an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution. Additionally, they must be a US citizen or permanent resident and meet the minimum GPA requirement of the specific scholarship. NACME's mission is to increase representation of Black/African American, Latinx/Hispanic-American, and Native/American Indian students in the fields of engineering and computer science.
