Think of the Milton Fisher Scholarship as a prize for creative thinkers rather than a traditional award for test scores or family income. Its purpose is to recognize students who show original, effective problem-solving and to help them afford college. Who this is for - Academic-year standing: You must be either - a current high school senior, or - a first-time college student in your first undergraduate year, or - someone who plans to begin the first year of an undergraduate program in the fall or spring semester immediately following the scholarship deadline. - Residency/attendance: You must meet one of these two conditions: - Be a resident of Connecticut or the New York City metro area and plan to attend (or be attending) a college anywhere in the United States, or - Be a resident of anywhere in the United States and plan to attend (or be attending) a college in Connecticut or the New York City metro area. What the award looks like - Each year the committee typically selects 5–8 recipients. - The scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 per year and may be renewed for up to four years. - Selection of recipients is based on creative problem-solving, not on financial need. Once recipients are chosen, the actual dollar amount they receive is determined by their financial need.
