Early Childhood Development Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority
The Early Childhood Development Scholarship is a financial aid program designed to support Kentucky residents who are employed in daycare and preschool environments. The scholarship aims to assist these individuals in obtaining credentials, certificates, and degrees in the field of early childhood education.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Early Childhood Development Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Residency in Kentucky. 2. U.S. citizenship, national status, or permanent residency. 3. Enrollment in a qualifying program of study at a participating institution, pursuing one of the approved credentials. 4. Maintenance of satisfactory academic progress, as determined by the student’s institution. 5. Employment of at least 20 hours per week in a participating early childhood facility or as a preschool associate teacher in a state-funded pre-school program. 6. Ineligibility for state or federal training funds through Head Start, a public preschool program, or First Steps. 7. No outstanding financial obligations to KHEAA or any other Title IV program. 8. Agreement to a service commitment based on the credential pursued.
Approved Study Programs
The Early Childhood Development Scholarship program recognizes the following programs of study: 1. Child Development Associate Credential 2. Associate’s degree in early childhood education 3. Bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary early childhood education or a related program approved by the Early Childhood Development Authority 4. Master’s degree in interdisciplinary early childhood education 5. Kentucky Early Childhood Development Director’s Certificate
Application Process
To be considered for the Early Childhood Development Scholarship, students must complete two applications: 1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) 2. The Early Childhood Development Scholarship application, which can be accessed by signing in to MyKHEAA and navigating to the "Apply Online for Scholarships" link.
