Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Oklahoma Hall of Fame Gaylord Pickens Museum
Every fall, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame bestows a $6,000 scholarship upon one deserving high school senior. The selection committee, comprised of members of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, evaluates applicants based on their academic performance, civic engagement, volunteer work, and participation in extracurricular activities.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
High school seniors enrolled in an Oklahoma public, private, charter school or homeschool who have committed to attending an Oklahoma college or university are eligible to apply. Each application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a teacher, administrator, mentor, coach, or community leader who is not related to the student.
Selection Criteria and Process
The scholarship is merit-based and takes into account a student's academic achievements, leadership roles, civic and community involvement, and their knowledge gained from researching a Member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. The student's pride in our great state is also a factor. All activities from the time the student began school (kindergarten) will be considered. The quality of the application, including adherence to instructions, spelling, and grammatical accuracy, will also be evaluated.
A committee of Oklahoma Hall of Fame Members will review the applications. The scholarship recipient, selected annually, will be honored at the annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Application Submission Guidelines
All information must be typed and the application must be completed in full. The following items must be included in the completed application packet, in this order:
- The scholarship application (pages 3-8), filled out by the student and signed where required
- A letter from the student to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship Selection Committee, detailing the college/university they plan to attend, their intended major or field of study, and their post-college plans
- A copy of the student’s ACT/SAT scores
- An official transcript of the student’s grades starting from the 9th grade
- One or two recommendation letters from an adult or mentor who is not related to the student. Each letter should not exceed one page.
The application and all required elements must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025.
