The Evans Scholarship in a sentence
- It’s a full-tuition-and-housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies who demonstrate financial need, strong character, and solid academics.
Who this is for (qualifications)
- Strong caddie record: At least two years of regular, successful caddying. You are expected to caddie at your sponsoring club during the year you apply.
- Excellent academics: Above a B average through your junior year in college-preparatory courses. (For 2025 applicants, ACT/SAT scores are optional.)
- Demonstrated financial need: The scholarship is intended for students who clearly require financial assistance.
- Outstanding character: Integrity, leadership, and strong personal character are essential.
What you must submit (checklist)
- Completed online application (available Aug. 1)
- CSS Profile (completed and submitted; Evans Scholars code 0153)
- FAFSA Submission Summary with Student Aid Index (SAI)
- High school transcript
- High school evaluation and caddie evaluation
- Letters of recommendation
- Test scores if you choose to include them
Key dates and timeline
- Aug. 1: Application opens online. Read all instructions carefully.
- Oct. 1: CSS Profile and FAFSA become available. Complete the 2026–27 CSS Profile at cssprofile.collegeboard.org (Evans code 0153). Complete the 2026–27 FAFSA at studentaid.gov as soon as possible. Email or mail a copy of your FAFSA Submission Summary (including SAI) to the Scholarship Committee when it’s available.
- Oct. 15: All application materials and supporting documents should be submitted by this date. The Scholarship Committee begins review after Oct. 15.
- Between Oct. 15 and Apr. 1: Committee interviews finalists; final selections are made by the Committee.
- Apr. 1: All decisions are finalized.
A few practical tips (teacher-to-student)
- Start early: Give recommenders and your school time to prepare documents.
- Keep a folder (digital or physical) with each required item so nothing is missed on Oct. 15.
- Complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile as soon as they open—financial documents often take time to process.
- Prepare for the interview: be ready to talk about your caddie experience, leadership, schoolwork, and financial need.
- Ask your school counselor or club sponsor for guidance if you’re unsure about any part of the application.
