Who is eligible (plain-language checklist)
- Active NIAF membership: You or a qualifying family member must have an active NIAF membership. Memberships are valid for one year from the date you register and are non‑refundable. If the student does not hold a membership, they may use a parent’s, guardian’s, or grandparent’s membership.
- Enrollment: The student must be enrolled full time at a U.S.-accredited institution of higher education for the fall semester.
- Academic standing: A minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) is generally required. Note: some scholarships accept a lower GPA, and students in pass/fail programs may still be eligible.
- Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.
- Italian American ancestry: To qualify as Italian American for these scholarships, the student must have at least one ancestor who immigrated from Italy.
